So, I guess for memories sake, I should probably comment a little on the presidential election. First off, I didn't even realize that I was registered to vote until the MORNING OF THE ELECTIONS!!! So, naturally, I wasn't really following the campaigns very close. My thoughts were... "I have ZERO interest in politics (well, not exactly zero....I do care about what goes on in this country...I just get bored to tears (literally in some instances) when I watch FOX News, or stuff like that). And I'm not even able to vote (wrong-o!) So why bore myself with this stuff?? So anyway, come to find out that I am registered, and am definitely going to vote. So, I had a cram session studying up on all the propositions and what not. To be quite honest, the only one I had even heard of was Prop 102 - declaring that marriage should be between a man and a woman. ( My mind is completely boggled at the fact that our country has even come to this. I cant believe that we need to VOTE to determine if marriage should be between a man and woman only. Seriously people!??!?!?!?!??!?! Gay marriage is wrong. You all know it is. If we legalize gay marriage, then where do we draw the line? Why wouldn't I be legally able to marry a cow if we were in love? I know you've heard questions like that before, but I still haven't heard an answer! Where's the answer people? Why not? If I fall in love with my cow, why can't I marry it? Wouldn't it be considered "discrimination" if I wasn't allowed to????)Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike gay people, at all. I would happily have gay friends (if I knew any). I wouldn't treat them any different than anyone else. I don't care if you are gay...why would I care what you do in your spare time...but it isn't what this country was founded on...Principals of God....so just deal with the fact that you cant be legally married. If you want to get married...marry someone of the OPPOSITE sex. Don't expect exceptions to the rules. They WEREN'T made to be broken. Im sick and tired of people cramming the idea that being "gay" is acceptable, and normal, because it's not. Look at society 50 years ago. When people still had morals. I would bet money on the fact that you couldn't go to the store and observe multiple gay couples displaying affection in public. Heck, I'd bet they didn't even do it behind closed doors. So anyway, I think it is clear where I stand on that one. As for the other 7 propositions that I had never heard of....I studied a little online, but they use jargon, most of which I couldn't understand upon reading for the first time. And not to sound conceited....at all, because I don't consider myself to be any kind of genius...but if I could barely understand it.....I'm sure that the majority of the population couldn't either. So, who knows if they even knew what they were voting for!!!! (geez, I really have little faith in our general public!!! Well, they have sure proved me RIGHT in this election!!!!!!!!!!).
And what is all this hype about taking money from the rich and giving it to the poor?? What, is he the modern day Robin Hood? Why in the world would ANYONE consider it fair that the hardworking "rich" Americans should be FORCED to give money to the poor??? Ok, maybe "hardworking" was the wrong term, but still.....money doesn't just fall in their laps. They are obviously doing something right in order to have millions. Heck yea, free money would be great, but at whose expense? Why would anyone consider it right to take money from someone and give it to someone else? That is what charities are for. If you want to help..great...do it upon your own free will. If you don't want to help the less fortunate...fine..its your money...do with it as you please! If you are poor and want more money...here's a thought.....go to school. Can't afford it?? Either can I, but Im making it work. Student loans, government grants....second jobs....just to name a few. Quit complaining, get out there and bust your butt until you are in the financial status that you want. Live in the ghetto and "dont stand a chance? Pack up and move. Until then....*wah* cry me a river while you are sitting there on the couch, watching tv....wishing you had more.... Ok, Im gonna get beat up now aren't I?? Humm....I am considering setting my blog to private. Send me your email addresses and I will send you an invite....if I know you.
Anyway - This election has been far different than any other in our countries past. We had the first "Black" person in the running (although, he's more purple than anything...and I think technically more white than black....but still considered black which doesn't make any sense.) I think he's Muslim too, and for a number of years attended a white hating church, but obviously, I don't know because I didn't follow very closely. So anyway, Barack Obama is now going to be our nations first Black President. In my opinion, race is playing WAY too much a role in this election!! I personally don't care what race the guy is....what matters to me are his abilities to lead our country...pull us out of this economic slump....keep us safe...and that he has righteous morals......All of which, I highly doubt, and am scared to death of what will become of our great nation!!!!! I'm already sick to death of hearing nothing but race related comments on the news. Seriously people....yes, it is HUGE that we have our first black president, but why do you care so much what color his skin is?? What are you trying to prove?? Don't we all have equal rights anyways?????? Lets just hope it stays that way. And something that really bothers me is that he refuses to put his hand on his heart during the National Anthem. That is just plain disrespectful. Throughout our entire lives we are taught that it is a sign of respect and love for our country to put our hands on our hearts when we look at the flag and hear that song. Obama claims to love this country....why can't he even show the slightest bit of respect to it? Why would he want to lead this nation if he doesn't even love it? We all know that his wife doesn't love our country, due to that incredibly numb-minded remark that she made about "being proud of her country for the first time in her adult life". What? She want's her hubbie to be president of a country that she is ashamed of? Humm...is it just me, or does that not make a whole lot of sense?
Also, we had our first woman running for Vice President....Sarah Palin. Yes, she is very beautiful, which I'm sure helped her out a little....but from what I heard, was completely unqualified to run as Vice President, which people are saying is the reason why McCain lost. Who knows. Maybe it did hurt his campaign, but I think that no matter who was running against Obama would have lost. This country was DYING to have Obama become their leader. It just boggles my brain. And to make matters worse, he won by a LANDSLIDE!!!!! I don't remember the exact number of electoral votes that Obama received, but it was like, 100 more than McCain.
Now I hear that members of the Democratic Party are coming out and telling people to "not expect too much out of Obama" What is this suppose to mean? That he LIED to us to get our votes? *gasp* That's just not possible.......not.
Anyway, I sure hope he is a good leader. I hope he can fix our nations problems. I hope that we don't become sitting ducks when he pulls the troops out and sends them home...unprepared for another terrorist attack. I hope that our nation remains free...becomes a safe place to live....and that my children will live in safety and peace.

Hi Mia! I was a McCain voter - and I agree with your view point. But if it makes you feel less nervous, Obama is not a muslim. He was baptised Christian over 20 years ago, and although his father was of Muslim "descent" he was not practicing. Just as my father is a non-practicing Jew.
His wife and his children are all Christian. They are moral people, maybe not exactly to our standards. He does not believe in putting a federal ban on gay marriage, but to leave it up to the states, just as McCain believed. This was one of those "maverick issues" McCain differed on with the conservative Republicans. Obama and McCain were on the same ground with that issue.
It will be interesting to see what a democrat-majority federal government will do in this next term. I think there will be improvments and some downfalls. Just as all administrations have.
However, do not feel nervous about Obama or his wife. The statement she made was overblown and just bad choice of words, as we have done before. They are of Christian faith and good, family people.
I followed this election very closely, and it revitalized my interest in national issues and politics. If you ever wanna chat "politics" give me a call :) hehe.
Can't wait to see you soon!
Just wanted to give you an idea on his moral standing on gay marriage. He does believe it is between a man and a woman but believes the power to make these laws should be with the states. Which I agree with, but some conservatives don't.
He is going to pick a very intelligent, seasoned economic committee and hopefully he makes good choices on who will help him with international defense.
He lived in other countries as a child, which I think benefits his world views on how other places work and how America is still such a great, free land!
Needless to say, I thought McCain would be a better president and represent my viewpoints the best.
So...I hope people will research further so they don't feel afraid of his leadership, just because that would not be a very comfortable way to live. SO I am glad I helped a little if I did. :)
