Raising your own chickens sounds like an excellent idea, right? Organic free eggs, hours of entertainment watching them try to fly with clipped wings, a cute little something to snuggle on your lap....yeah, chickens are a GREAT idea! Except when you have a 4 year old, a one year old, and 4 neighborhood girls ages ranging from 8 yrs to 4 yrs. Out of fear for the little chickies lives I felt I had to give them a new home, and I was terribly sad about it. But I just couldn't stand the thought of those poor little creatures being tormented another day. The last straw for me was when I came downstairs after taking a shower and saw Chasie sitting on the couch watching tv with a chicken on her lap. Do you have any idea how much those guys poo? Actually, the last straw was when all the girls were gathered around a bundled up blanket in the back yard. I thought it looked weird so I went out there and asked them what they were doing.
"Oh, well we like to wrap the chicken up really tight in the blanket and when it stops moving we can hold it".......ok you little turds, you have been smothering the dang chickens and holding them until they regain consciousness then struggle to get away from you!?!?!?! man oh man.
Now I srsly have a hankrin to get a puppy....any suggestions?

dont do it. sorry, but thats my opinion. unless u are strictly dedicated to training it and playing with it and everything, i wouldnt do it. Esp, if you have to have a deposit for pets. ANY dog will chew up the entire yard, house. so good luck. just keep focusing on being the wonderful mother that you are to chasie and jake.
HA! Yes. Get a Great Dane so it's too big to smother AND it doubles as a horse. Then for Chasie's birthday you can get her a pink saddle.
Just a thought.
Oh, sad you have to say goodbye to them! But it sounds like its for the better. :) Dogs are fun. I'd recommend getting an older one that doesnt chew on things and howl at night!
oh my oh my. those poor little chickens. lucky for you you can get cage free organic eggs at the store. chicken in the lap watching tv sounds like such a kid thing to do. Go Chasie!!!
Those are fantastic stories, no chance of getting a pic with Chasie and a chicken on her lap - hilarious!
Can you wire off part of the yard so they cannot get to them? (or will they figure out a way)
